You made every effort to hire the best family attorney to handle your separation or divorce. But things have been rocky. Maybe you don’t feel like your lawyer is advocating for you adequately. Maybe he or she isn’t getting back to you in a timely way. Maybe you just don’t feel they are up to speed when or where they need to be. Kamelia “Mia” Poppe is the founding partner of The Law Firm of Poppe & Associates, PLLC in midtown Manhattan. She is an experienced practitioner of family law, with niche competencies in high net worth divorce, father’s rights, same sex divorces, the Hague Convention and international child custody, abduction and wrongful retention, and the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA).
Shelley Klein provides family mediation through her private law practice, Divorced and Intact, as well as through the NY Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG). She began her career at Paul, Weiss in corporate litigation, clerked for a Federal court judge in Brooklyn, and worked extensively in social justice before starting her own family law practice in New York. She is the Associate Director of the Center for Institutional and Social Change (CISC) at Columbia Law School and the Assistant Director of the Institute for Social and Economic Research and Policy (ISERP) at Columbia University.
