Kids and Divorce: In Their Own Words

In Their Own Words
If you are a mother, father or guardian facing separation or divorce, we invite you to join us for a special panel discussion with four “children of divorce” who are now young adults. We’ll be asking them to share from their own experiences, with an aim toward eliciting some insights on family healing, growth and resilience.
We are thrilled to have Keren Ludwig, LCSW as lead facilitator for the event. In addition to teaching at the Ackerman Institute and Columbia University School of Social Work, Keren works as a private practitioner with individuals, couples and families. Her specialties include trauma, resilience and adolescent development. Learn more about Keren and her work here.
Almost every divorcing parent fears the potential impact their break up will have on their kids. In our experience, divorcing parents are hungry for information on how to help their kids weather what is usually a seismic, often painful, sometimes tumultuous change in their lives. While therapists, school psychologists and parenting experts can offer guidance, we don’t often hear parental advice from kids of divorce themselves. This is a unique opportunity to gather some insights from young adults who’ve been there.
