When it comes to our aging parents, too many of us avoid the important conversations until a crisis hits and forces us to choose between less-than-ideal options. Avoiding the conversation almost always leads to outcomes that place an extra burden on us (particularly if we are the oldest or only daughter). Add divorce to the mix along with the financial uncertainty that often comes with it, and the care of elderly parents can become truly daunting.
In this lunch hour presentation and discussion, we’ll talk with two professionals who work with individuals and couples to help them plan for the care of aging relatives, as well as their own final years. Along with guidance and resources for caregivers, this session also aims to jump start us in thinking, talking and planning for our own old age.
