The Untied Member Book Club is resuming this month!
Elena Ferrante’s new novel, The Lying Life of Adults is our first book of the fall. Described as “exquisitely moody” by Merve Emre in the Atlantic, it explores our facility for, and inclination toward deception in a juicy family tale. Not only does this novel seem fitting for this season of crisis around truth and lies in our political life (while providing much needed respite from it), it is also an invitation to acknowledge our own locked closets of the soul. “To tolerate existence, we lie and we lie above all to ourselves,” says Ferrante. Give it a read and join our discussion on Wednesday, October 21st.
